The Karawan Serai or Caravanserai was a large courtyard surrounded by the hostels used by visiting merchants. The tower with stone elephant tusks protruding from it is The Hiran Minar. It is actually outside the fort grounds, and is said to have been erected over the grave of Akbar's favourite elephant.
